Well just a bit of Tuesday evening chatter

Well good evening ladies and gents just incase your out there ....
Yesterday I had wrote the whole post and went to check on something and the whole post disappeared...  I wanted to cry, but I was just like wow really after all that...  So I didn't set out to write it...  I just let it be and here I'am writing a new post...it's evening here in San Francisco and we have had rain for a few days, yesterday it stopped..  The garden is a big mess with Fall leaves all over the place and summer's garden blowin in the winds...  I need to clean up all the debri but wasn't quite up to doing that...  So I did take a walk back to the back of the garden to check on the figs...  And finally there were some ready ones.  Yay..
So I picked them and a few straggly little flowers...  And one baby rose...

                   One big fig....
I love figs and I love melamine...  These are my new teacups in melamine or melmac.. From the fifties...  Can't remember if I mentioned them before to you or not...

For some reason they were short one saucer.. I purchased them anyway's... I'm not minding at all...

I also wanted to share some silver pieces that I found at mamas that I finally got around to cleaning up...  They were so black from sitting forever.. I love the birdie napkin ring it has engraved on it season's greetings...
This spoon is so pretty, the spoon area is goldish in color and it is all. Very soft...  A friend told me back when people would save there nickles and make spoons out of them and she said the softer the spoon the more nickle silver was in them...  And they didn't have forks in those days only spoons..  I'm not sure about all this but it is what I was told... .
The handle is quite lovely with initial B on it....
This one is not so much fancy but I do like the shape of it... And its super soft...  This one, my lady friend has a whole set of that came from here Great g, g, grandfather...  They are displayed in a lovely   wooden spoon holder..   This also has an initial ...
This is a small spoon I think maybe for a child maybe not...
And quite a fancy handle too... And a initial...
The small fork isn't soft or fancy nor the butter knife...  I found it funny that the handle was turn opposite the flat of the knife...
There was a whole box full of silver flatware...  Which I seperated and let some pieces go..  These where found in a different place...  The others were from the basement cleaning which I haven't even touched..  It took much elbow grease as they say to clean these up...
Him too he was black. I didn't think he was all silver, but I think the ring part is and I think his legs are plated...  But just the same I like him...

He is where I put my little flowers...  In a small flower girl vase...  the sun was starting to go down...

I just completed this copy of a vintage hot pad potholder.....
And still working on my dresser runner scarve.....   ....   So that's all for now it is back to my embroidery...  And relax till bed time...  Thank you so much for your visits...  And comments...  I always enjoy reading them and visiting with you all...  Love to share my things with you...

  2. So that's what figs look like pre-package! ;-) When I was a kid we had a wooden fruit basket centerpiece. Could never figure out what the fig was. They don't grow where I was then (Michigan) and I'd only ever seens figs in Newtons!

Love the little bird napkin holder. Everything used to be so fancy. Imagine the time it took to craft that and the pride that went into it, all for a napkin!

Loving your blog and the peek into your quiet life in San Francisco, Janice. I look forward to your posts.

  3. Dear Janice:
What a beautiful post with darling photos of your sweet treasures. That little bird napkin holder is darling. Yesterday I saw a spoon with that golden color inside like that. Now I regret not buying it! Have a lovely week.

  4. Wonderful aqua blue teacups and own figs, what a treat, they must be delicious. The napkin holder with the little bird is a real gem, love it.

  5. I love looking at all your lovely lady things, but reminds me I have some work to do on my junk-collected silver. The easiest way to clean silver is with baking soda, so I will get out the box and sprinkle a little on with a few drops of water and rub the tarnish right off.

  7. Ah, I love that you display your sterling and silver-plate flatware with the the turquoise Melmac pieces. Love the juxtaposition. We don't use our beautiful things enough, and the idea of using them everyday...is delicious. Great post, Sandi
