After a day of cleaning

Good evening dearests,
I'm sitting on that ole couch again, waiting for the water to boil for tea...  I was hard at work cleaning all day..  I was away as you know at mamas house for a few days my son brought me home Saturday evening which was nice.  My daughter left things a stinky mess Sunday was church and I try to abid by the sabbath...  So I left things for today...  I scrubbed the bathroom clean the kitchen sweep and mopped kitchen and bathroom..  Moved things about to clean behind and under...  Winter will be here soon so I gave it all a good cleaning..  This ole house get dusty and damp at times...  I also raked up some leaves because tomorrow is my garbage day...  They come early morning so I filed it up our green recycle bin that is and came back in to cook dinner for myself..
And make some tea...  I hadn't had tea in the morning like I usually do..  This is a new teapot, the funny thing is I thought it was cream color where the top is, not blue..  There was no mention of it being blue and the photo showed it cream...  I was quite surprised when I opened the box...  But I actually love it...
So I set out to make a tray and I did just that...  Another funny thing I got so busy I never drank that tea till way later.. I kept telling myself I was, but said ok in a minute, but I ended up doing the laundry and other things...    Then decided Id take a shower before I cooked...  That way I cook just eat and relax..  I know me after my back is done and it will be so hard to take a shower..
So pretty in my opinion...  Love the roses so much...
Little flowers are still about in the garden.... Teenie tiny pansies...
And that sweet bird napkin ring...
My blue little fairy joined me for tea....  She said it was the perfect time... The house was quiet and no one was home but us....

A sprig of rosemary for the chicken that we will make. The tree is full outside...
I so love a pretty tray...  It always makes me feel good...  The garden is totally off limits it is muddy after all the days of rain, so tea has to be inside...I saw worms icky worms...  Funny again, when I was little and I would visit my Uncle and Aunt who lived up north from San Francisco about 300 somethin milles in McCloud Ca.   He would water the lawn so what they call night crawlers, big fat worms would come out and we would pull them out of the lawn for fishing...  We would fish for trout frah cold water trout...  Gosh what ever made me do that..  Lol I wouldn't do that now if you paid me to..  Things you do as a kid...  I also ran around barefooted during the summer the temps were always in their 100's.  Then one day I got a huge sliver from one end of my foot to the other...  My auntie was so upset and boy so was I lol...  I wore shoes for a while but, not for long..  The most amazing days..  I just talked to them on Saturday, she is now 80 he is 84...  Bless them they been together forever.. He told me I can't chop those trees down no more and it drives me nuts he said but, good thing Donnie, their son, takes care of it all now..  McCloud is way up in the mountains near Mt.Shasta.  All my dads family had moved up there from here.. There were ten siblings one died at birth..    And he was the only one and one sister who stayed here in San Francisco..  Dad was a city boy.  Up there it snows roof top high..  So many memories..  Well, it is late now around 8:16 pm..  I'm once again waiting for the water to boil for tea.  But my evening tea vanilla chamomile..
I hope you had a wonderful day today....  O my it's raining again..  ..  . . ☔️πŸ’§☔️.  I hope also that you have a wonderful new week..  I'm off to claim my tea and maybe do a bit of embroidery I did't get to finish my dutch girl...  So I will work on that... Good evening...  May we all be watched over and blessed ...

Saturday morning chatters...

πŸ‚πŸπŸ‚πŸGood morning everyone...  It is raining in San Francisco and kind of over cast.  I have been at mamas the last couple pf days...  A lot of the time I come here to take a break from my own house...   But, this morning I'm bored and don't know what I want to do...  Maybe go back home later...
I have been embroidering on two different things...  This piece I found when I was thrifting...  Funny thing I saw it the other day when I went with my daughter but I had left it behind..
So day before she had a appointment so I was going with her to keep her company..  She called to tell them she was running late and they replied she no longer needed to come..  So we went to the thrift store again since we were out and close by...  And I ran across it again but in a different area so home she came with me and later I realized how big the piece was.  I had thought it was a large dish towel, but actually it like a small tablecloth size...  But, it only has this one transfer on it...  So I have some ideas for it..
I really love this little dutch girl...  I have some pieces from Holland..  Little blue and white dutch shoes, little vases some salt pepper people...  A few tiles...  And some other things...

She is almost finished...  I believe I have some dutch girl transfers in my stash of transfers...  I want to add some to the other corners of the piece and probably crochet the edgings...  It is a good project for the winter months and I also I have the run er to finish. And some other things I got my self another set of pillow cases already stamped...  I found those on line...
I did a tad more on this runner...  But there is quite a bit more to do..  So usually what I do is switch back and forth when I get bored with one I will switch to the other or crochet..  Lol eventually I will be complete one or the other...
I might get her finished today...  I want to redo the little white tulip...  It was so hard to see in mamas kitchen in the evening hours...  The stitches look bad and need to be re-did...    What are you all up to this Saturday morning...  So I believe that all for now...  I'm going to try to go about to make blog visits...  If I haben't been to your blog It is not because I don't want to,  it is just hard to reach everyone and remember everyone..  I want to make a list of the blogs that still are because since I first started many blogs have stop producing...  So that is on my agenda...  Wishing you all a most lovely day and weekend, with love JaniceπŸ‚πŸ’›πŸ‚πŸ’›πŸ‚πŸ’›πŸ‚πŸ’›πŸ‚πŸ’›πŸ‚πŸ’›
Ps I forgot to share the lovely cookbooks that I found.. I love the useful internet for recipes. But I also love cook books specially pretty ones...
It is the most lovely cook book ever the pages are beautiful..  And the recipes look good... Sound good...
Amazing pages who wouldn't want this book....  Pretty warm and such a cozy feeling.....   I would like to have this for wall paper...  Honest, I have wanted wall paper in a room forever, when you rent thats not possible...  But since I own mamas house now ...  Gosh I've never really said that..  Any how I hope one day it is possible...

A whispery day...

     Good afternoon,
I believe today we shall have some rain...  There is wind blowing and the sky is darken and the clouds look full ...  You know how just know something is brewing.  I haven't a clue what I want to do...  I've taken out the trash because tomorrow morning is our trash day...  And of course all the back breaking cleaning I did in the garden last week, there are leaves all over again...  So I whispered around the garden gathering literally the last of the tiny flowers...  And found one hydrangea flower bloomed..
It is a purpulish blue flower...  And I believe it was blue but changed...  So I cut it and brought it inside to put in my kitchen window...I won't be much in the garden the rains coming...

There's a bunch on tiny little pansy's all in the chives and green onion patch...  So I picked some.. They are one of my favorites..
I usually have this tall blue glass bottle in the middle but I have removed it for a bit...  Last week I had a flower girl vase here...
I have a few of them, I just love them...
I like when this window is clean it is where my sink is and instead of focusing on the fence and house next store I can see the pretties in the window...
Over the weekend I baked Karen's strawberry muffins...  From Cottage and Castles blog @ http://karenscottageandcastle.blogspot.com/.  They were very yummy.  I was with my oldest daughter and grand children and they loved them.  I also made a glaze for them with powdered sugar and a tad butter and strawberry yogurt..  They ate them up and wanted more ...  Nice recipe Karen thanks for sharing the recipe...  I used fresh chopped strawberries you can use either frozen or fresh...  And i put them in last...

                      Yummmmmy strawberries πŸ“πŸ“πŸ“πŸ“πŸ“
This next photo is called in spanish Moussaka de calabacin...  Which is a potato based dish with meat and sauce...

And I found this other recipe on instagram by  divina cosina, @ http://www.divinacocina.es/moussaka-de-calabacin/
Really nice to..  So I made this but the recipe is in spanish..  So I will try to explain it to you just incase you don't read spanish...  It is like a lasagna... But it has layer of potatoes that were peeled and sliced long ways about a half inch thick.   What you do is fry them on a fairly high heat to par cook them..  That is your first layer..  Then you make a meat sauce and what I did i used ground turkey..  I finely chopped a half of a small onion and one clove of garlic finely chopped i sauted them in a tad of olive oil...  Had a half of a small tomato I chopped that and added it cooked down the ground turkey and smashed it to fine grain added a small can of tomatoe sauce added salt pepper and a 1/8 teaspoon of nutmeg..  Let it cook down making sure all the gr. Turkey was fine...  So then I layered the potatoes on the bottom the next layer was the ground turkey and sauce then a layer of shredded Monterey jack cheese..  The I had zucchini that I sliced into rings and lightly fried them.. But the same as the potatoes don't cook them all the way...
Then layered them on top of the cheese..  The next step was to make a bΓ©chamel sauce...  Couple tablespoons butter melted then when melted and couple tablespoons flour mix and cook for a minute or two to cook the flour then turn heat way down add some milk slowly little at a time stirring constantly so you form no lumps...  Add some salt pepper and nutmeg just a pinch or less..  Till you get a nice smooth sauce..  Then you let it cook and thicken..
Put it over the zucchini, last layer a layer of shredded cheese..  Put into the oven 350 degrees for about 20- 25 minutes. Depending on your oven...  You want it heated through and the cheese melted nice and we let ours brown..  They loved it and me too..  In my opinion I think a nice dallop of sour cream and either some finally chopped gr. Onion or chives would have been nice.  It is a rich dish and a nice green salad would be perfect too..  I put the link so if you read spanish you can follow there..

I only stayed till saturday evening and came home to get ready for church in the morning...  Which was awesome...  A great weekend in all..  Now I'm just going to have a easy day do a little bit here and there...  I hope your weekend was good and I hope the new week goes well..
New teacups but no saucers but I love them just the same... They are from Homer Laughlin...  i never seen this pattern before...  I hope I find some kind of saucers for them...  For tea I just used a other one I have but I need about five or six...
It came also with this cut creamer....
These where a cheap ebay find...  O I almost forgot we went thrifting and had a nice time I found a few little things...  We enjoyed ourselfs...  Thank you everyone for your dear sweet comments on my last post..  Love and hugs to you all...
