Just a bit of chatter and hello....

     Good afternoon everyone,
Can you believe after all those icky summer ugly days, all of a sudden what you call Indian summer showed up. Yesterday here in San Francisco was quite warm between 85-90 case you don't know that's quite good for San Francisco..  So I basically been inside.  But I don't go out much anyhow.  Sometimes due to my panic and sometimes I just don't have a place to go.  And other days even if I do I don't feel to.  I know I'm only 58 but it's getting harder and harder for me to do things.
Most days when I'm home I look for a pretty teacup to have tea with and believe me I have plenty to choose from, but this one here is one of my favorites...  I have a set of dishes as you all know and I have had most of the set for 35 years...  I think it will always be my favorite...
The design intrigues me..  There are flowers everywhere in the cup out of the cup and on the saucer so your always seeing some..
Years ago when I was about I think 25-26.  I found this tack board on dads truck they were connected to a wooden piece with like wooden boxes which was all connected they used them in stores for vegetables.  So I took one tack board and I attempted to paint the design from my teacups and dishes ...and there it is.  It resides in my kitchen today I have a bunch of vintage pot holders on it...    Many moons ago..  Sometimes I wonder why I never pursued my drawing talents..  Dad tried he took me to the best art school in San Francisco, but I was so shy I didnt want to go.  I was young. He never pushed me, so we left and that was that..  I drew with pencil over the years and people took all my drawings.  I mght have two or three and this board and one little canvas with a clown face.  And I haven't drawn anything for eight years except for last year one vase with flowers...
A lot of days I sit and surf the web and I find recipes some I have tried and some I haven't. Not so sure I will get to do ll of them.  Over the years I have picked up journals at second hand stores and thats what I do with them.

It keeps me out of trouble, hehe...
Though I would like probably to try more recipes the cost of everything these days is to much so because I live on a fixed income I have to be moderate...
Yesterday and today a bit,  I have written down some nice recipes..  One I'm about to write is a recipe for a pastry called Choux Pastry, they are these cute little pastry puffs then later you cut them open and fill them with whipped cream and dust with icing sugar...  Here we call them cream puffs...  Yummy I can't wait to try to make them.  My second mom made them for my first baby shower, the Italian way..  Not sure if there is a difference though..  Gosh I wish I wrote all her recipes down.  Who'd have thought..  But sorry I didn't..  She made everything.  Her spaghetti consist of large meat balls and pig feet.. So very good..  I also remember making gnocchi she taught me but I don't remember the recipe just how to roll them either down the fork of a special little paddle she had..  She made this cracked crab with garlic and olive oil and herbs so so good. I miss her and her cooking she was my best friend growing up...  My second mom.❤️
Don't these look fantastic...  I can imagine them filled with pastry cream or whipped cream dusted with icing sugar....  Coming up soon...
Now off to write down the recipe and finish my tea...  Be back soon enjoy your evening a the new week..  Three more days and it will be offically Fall..  Wow..  The little leaves on my snowball tree have turned orange red and today some fell off.  I was thinking today it needs a larger pot so next year it will be larger and make more snowballs...
                 Bye now, with love Janice๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒบ๐Ÿ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒฟ

  1. Hi Janice.
We call them cream puffs here as well and they are so yum :) I haven't had one for such a long time, years in fact. My grandmother used to make them but I have never tried, maybe I should.
I hope your week is a good one.

  5. You did a great job replicating the teacup's floral design on your tack board. It's not too late to pick up drawing again!

  8. so sorry to hear that you have not used a talent for so long. I hope you turn that around soon. from reading your blog for a while, I really thought you were boiling over with ideas and skills. wondering if you read Cindi's blog? http://oldblackcatboo.blogspot.com/ Cindi is an artist using a lot of different mediums and you might find some inspiration there.

  9. By the way, we used to make cream puffs and my mother used a turkey baster to make a little hole in the baked pasteries and filled them with whipped cream or a thick vanilla pudding. Looking forward to your finished product.
