I found these bowls in a box, just sitting there after I had gone through several on top. Yikes it is a wonder they didn't get broken.. So glad they didn't... They are all like new like no one ever used them. Talk about excited.
Found this lovely planter too. And some little lemons from the tree in the garden... I had planted years ago.. Surprised it has survived... This had some rust on it. But I found years back that if you gently use a sos pad it will remove the rust and not damage the pot. Least its never not worked for me... It just has a tiny on the bottom area. Aqua at that...
These two bowls are Metlox USA...
The red ones are Pyrex there are four I'am using one. The pink bowls are Pyrex like but have no name... I love Victorian vintage but I also love things from the fifties.. So my kitchen has much Pyrex and fifties things...
I also found some nice aqua doilies that I have hand washed and I need now to block them so they will be pretty they have a white sparkle edging. Once upon a time mama had a aqua trimed kitchen. She used to tell me that, the color paint she used didn't exsit at the time so her and my grandfather who was a painter mixed up the paint theirselves. There are pieces of trim left in one part of the kitchen. I believe mama made these. For she crocheted long ago but never had the patience to teach. There are three but one has a bit of like a rusty stain and I couldn't get it out...
There are two of these. They were used for the hot pads and piece of like a card board goes on the inside of them...
These are lovely... At first I hadn't realized but they are for the old metal round napkin holder. There is some staining like Or discoloration that I just couldn't get out. But very little.. I think I can re copy them.. Well I'm hoping...i think they will be lovely on a christmas table..
So starting tomorrow I will be cleaning in the basement not sure how much I will be posting because I know I will be dead tired and broken from my back, but it has to be done so the weekend after this my son will come and help with putting it in the dumpster. So the more I go through the more I can get it filled up and out. Wish me luck and strength.. And pray I can manage, I would truly appreciate it... Well I think thats all for now.. I'm off to make something for dinner for me... Have a blessed evening and a great rest of the week... With love Janice .....
I have been there and done that, and a dumpster was involved along with 16 trips to GoodWill and Salvation army and as many to my home. I'm still weaning through the leavings of my mom and dad, and my mother's hoard(cough, cough) collecting of many wonderful and not so wonderful things. The bowls are fab and so are the doilies. I find as I try to live with this and that-Mom's leavings are a comfort too. Great leavings here, someday it will end. Or like I tell my kids, "I'm leaving you something from Gramma, lol." Sandi
ReplyDeleteHope you manage to get everything cleared out, you are certainly finding some great things for your home, they must be a real comfort for you. Take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you found those pretty treasures in your Mama's basement, Janice. You poor dear, you've really had a go of it, getting through all this by yourself. You take care of your back, and I will pray for strength for you to make it. Love and blessings to you.
ReplyDeleteJanice, it's so good of you to go through your mom's stuff and give some things to Goodwill. I love the doilies. Those look like Christmas doilies for sure, kind of like poinsettias. That's so great of your son to lend a helping hand. I remember well me and my sister going through my mom's stuff after she passed. It was hard, but sweet at the same time to find so many memories. Oh, I wish we could have tea together, Janice. We could talk about so many lovely things.
